I don't remember what I did on Monday, probably nothing, but I was probably studying for my Developmental Disorders midterm for Tuesday. On Tuesday after class about neurophysiology at the medical school near Rigshospitalet, I met up with some people from the buddy network. They went apple picking near Jo's house before I got there, but then we all had some coffee and tea and started cooking and baking in Jo's kitchen. She shares a house with 5 other students, and the house is old and cute and filled with thrifty things. We made baked vegetables, a green salad, red cabbage, sausage, and apple crumble cake. It was really fun to cook with a lot of people like that because no one ended up doing a lot of work and we were chatting and we met some new people and drinking coffee, though it was scary to be around so many people using big knives.
On Wednesday, I had a field study for Danish so we went to the National Museum.
We were looking at the history of Denmark starting at the year 2000 and working our way back to the beginning. We were supposed to take notes on things like cultural radicalism but I don't really know what big words like that mean so I was just comparing it to American history. It was actually very similar and a lot of the products were the same, like the old cooking appliances and the 60's look of the furniture.
After about an hour and half of that, the class left but I stayed and looked around the rest of the museum. There were too many words for me to read them all, but it's free so I can go back with ma and grandma. I stood in line for the Viking exhibit but I think I needed a ticket so I left.
I saw these guys, though, so that was pretty great.
And there were a lot of replica rooms, which I love and hope I can live in someday.
There was an exhibit on toys, too. These are tiny houses, and they are beautiful.
I got locked out of the museum, but a nice Danish lady let me back in. It is SO weird the lack of security or lack of worry about security of things like museums in Denmark. It's like real freedom. Freedom from worry is the greatest.
Then I went to Tivoli because they are open for two weeks with Halloween stuff. It was just like fall at home!
There were a ton of market stalls that were selling hats and gloves and scarves and mini donuts and waffles and crepes and cider and ice cream and it was WONDERFUL!
All the restaurants were decorated, too.
They turned the gardens and fountains into Halloween paradises. There was a huge area for kids to play I think because they had the whole week off for a fall break.
I had a hot Belgian waffle with soft serve.
Then I brought my laundry over to Taylor's so I could use her family's dryer. Just kidding, I went over there because she was having people over to watch Mean Girls and have dinner. But I did use the dryer. It was amazing to have dry jeans, but it kept shocking me when I touched it.
Mean Girls was great, and Taylor made me and the two other girls pasta. And we snacked on milk and cookies and chocolate mysli (highly recommend) all night.
Today, I went to Developmental Disorders and our fears were alleviated when our teacher said that questions that most people got wrong were dropped from our midterms. That was from 10:05-11:25am and then I went back to Albertslund and bought some shampoo and conditioner and jelly and then went home and made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I had a pear and a glass of milk and now I have to leave soon.
Linda and Bjarne are going camping somewhere outside this weekend, so they're leaving soon and I won't see them until Friday. Linda was saying how cold it is...haha I don't think she's too excited to sleep outside.
Tonight, Taylor and I are going to Tivoli for a little bit and then I'm going to come home and maybe do all the homework that's due after the trip to Budapest and Vienna. UGH.
I have to wake up around 6 or 7am or so because the flight is at 10:30am on Sunday. It will be really fun except for I will have to be with a lot of annoying pretentious pre-doctors and listen to a bunch of lectures. But, we will apparently have a bunch of free time and cultural visits so that just sounds awesome. I'm excited for Budapest because it will be so much cheaper than here!
WOO!
