2nd Weekend

Yesterday I went kayaking at Amager Strand.

It wasn't raining until we got on the Metro at Norreport Station, and then it wasn't raining as we met our kayaking instructor, and then it started raining as we were about to go into the water.

But then it stopped raining and it was a great day to go kayaking! It was cold and windy and wet, and so going back against the wind at the end of 4 hours was pretty freaking hard.

Wetsuits are the cutest.

It was really beautiful, but it was so dark and dreary that my camera had a hard time capturing the beauty.

The government wants people to go outside and use the land more, so you can sleep on the beach (but not in a tent) or anywhere in the woods for free (or cheap, depending where...).

There was also this big wooden swimming enclosure playground that we kayaked through. It's to encourage people to swim, I think.

There were only girls on this trip. And we were all pretty cool.

Brand new aquarium right on the seafront. We didn't see any seals, but part of their exhibit is outside/visible from the water.

We toured a bit along the shore, and there were a few really cute harbors with classic harbor boats and boat houses.

I went to visit Taylor and her host family straight from kayaking. Except the part where I got off at the wrong metro stop and saw a little bit of Amagerbro, where there were cute fruit stands and cobblestones and it looks like a place I might want to visit one day.

This is the flower shop right outside the train station and on the way to Taylor's.

The houses in Rodovre (where she lives) are very different from the one I live in (in Albertslund).

We ate some homemade Asian food in takeout boxes because Camille and Mikael think it's fun that way! I also helped Taylor build a dresser from IKEA. That was interesting...

Taylor's host siblings are pretty cute. And they act pretty much like American kids of those ages (10 and 13).

We watched a couple movies, or ends of movies, and then Camille drove me to the train station in Albertslund, which we had trouble finding, and then I rode my bike home in the windy scary dark.
